Warm Welcome…
Dear Fledglings parents and carers,
First and foremost we must say we are delighted with the children’s impeccable manners, superb behaviour and simply the incredible energy they bring with them each and every day. We are really proud of all the Fledglings children!
We would like to welcome the new families to Fledglings. The children have been settling well into their new environment and we are really pleased with their progress. The team are working hard to highlight each child’s starting development points and noting how we can progress the children further in their development through exciting activities and opportunities.
Parent Communication
With regards to communication, we have currently reintroduced the online updates in the preschool room. We hope that you find this information is useful.
We are more than happy to arrange key worker meetings (adhering to Covid 19 rules- masks and social distancing when possible) should you wish to do so. Please kindly contact the management team on admin@fledglingspreschool.co.uk and we will be more than happy to accommodate your request and arrange a suitable time.
We also would like to take this opportunity to invite parents in to visit the nursery. We are aware that some parents were unable to see the nursery due to Covid19 restriction and now feel as though this could be accommodated. Please contact the management team and we would love to welcome you to Fledglings. We can also arrange video calling if this is more suited to your needs.
Personally, I absolutely love spending time with the children and meeting the parents… this is my passion! I am at Fledglings every day and if you wish to book an appointment to see me please do so, alternatively just pop by…this will finally give me an opportunity to use my coffee machine!
Open Evening
The Fledglings team have been working ever so hard to create beautiful areas for the children to play and learn. We would love to show you our transformation and therefore, on Monday 22nd November we will be holding a ‘drop in’ open evening from 6.30 until 7.30. (Book your babysitter now!)
You are all very welcome to come along to Nursery where you will be able to chat informally to our team, have a look around and meet other parents. We look forward to seeing you then. Please email to confirm using the following address,

Fledglings Staff Structure & Updates
We have recently welcomed the following team members to join and support our established Fledglings team.
Michelle Hampson: Lunch time assistant

Farewell
Ana Perez has decided to spend more time with her family in Spain and choose a career to support her decision. We will miss Ana but wish her all the very best for the future.
Natalie Jones will be changing her days at Fledglings but will be continuing to work flexible days to suit her family needs.

New Early Years Curriculum
In September 21, the new Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum was released. We have attached an information leaflet for your consideration. With regards to changes to the current teaching methods at Fledglings, we feel as though limited modifications will be required as we already follow many of the recommendations. There is also a greater emphasis on Oral Health which we will continue to promote at nursery. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
Training
The Fledglings team have been taking part in the Elkan training which is to support children with speech and language development. The practitioners have stated that this insight has been very beneficial in practice. We are pleased to state that Fledglings has been chosen to deliver the training to other Early Years providers which is something we are very proud of.
We have invested in a training package for the whole time which we hope will be inspiring and knowledge. This will include courses such as First Aid and safeguarding.
Children in Need
The week commencing 8th November, our activities will be Pudsy related!! We invite the children (and staff!) to dress up in their favourite outfits. Also its competition time! We will be sending out a Pudsy colouring in sheet for you to decorate. You can decorate your sheet in any way you please! Prizes will be awarded for the best entry in each room- we look forward to receiving your entries…Good luck! We will set up a donation page soon.
Policy and Procedures Update
Antibiotics- As part of our Covid19 policy we had stated that children with Antibiotics should remain at home until the course of medication was complete. From Monday 27th September 21, we will be changing back to our normal procedures which state that following 24 hours after prescription and medicine administration, your child can return to nursery providing they are well enough to do so.
Conjunctivitis- Please can we request parents to ensure your child has been administered the drops 4 hours prior to attending nursery if your child has developed conjunctivitis as this will limit the spread at nursery. We will be happy to continue the treatment at nursery if required. Thank you for your understanding.
Christmas
We cannot quite believe we are talking about Christmas already (I’m a little worried that you may have stopped reading the newsletter now…I hope that this is not the case!) We can assure you that we have some very magical experiences planned for the children.
Every year we support a local charity in the run up to Christmas. If you have any suggestions please do let us know!
We are super excited about the Christmas Production. Our pre-school children will be joining up with the Reception Class at Moss Hey for a Christmas production which will take place at the school. Confirmation regarding dates and times will follow. Please be prepared for festive singing in the upcoming weeks- you may wish to invest in a pair of earplugs!
Christmas Closure- We will close on the evening of Wednesday 22nd December 21and reopen on the morning of Tuesday 4th January 22.
We will send out more information to confirm dates and times of Christmas parties and festivities soon.
School Admissions
Parents of children who will be commencing school in September 22 can apply for their chosen school(s) online at stockport.gov.uk. The deadline for applications is 15th January 2021.
We will be working very closely with the prep school children to ensure they are all ‘school ready’ when this time arrives. The preschool team have superb action plan in place to ensure tailored support is provided for each child. A letter from the preschool team will be sent out to the parents next week.
Pre- School Focus Teaching
Focus teaching time which will consist of Maths and Phonics sessions will commence beginning of October- term time only. I will we responsible for delivering the sessions and I cannot wait to start working with the incredibly talented children we are so lucky to have at Fledglings! I will be sending out an information pack soon…watch this space!
Finally….
I must say becoming part of Fledglings was possibly the best decision I have ever made! I am over the moon to have such a fantastic, dedicated and passionate team and the most supportive management team.
I can honestly state that each and every practitioner at Fledglings ensures that every child has a magical experience when they attend. The love, attention and care the team provide is delightful. We promise that we will continue to deliver exceptional experiences for your child and really hope you will also enjoy the Fledglings journey with us.
