Fledglings News October 2024
Christmas Closure dates 2024 & 2025 This year, we close on Monday 23rd December and re-open on Friday 3rd January 2025.   Next year, we close on Tuesday 23rdDecember 2025 and re-open on Monday 5th January 2026. Preschool Christmas partyInvitations have been sent via Famly to all PRESCHOOL children to invite them to the Christmas party on Friday 20th December 1-3pm.  Please ensure to RSVP so we can arrange staff ratios accordingly.
Trips & Visits We plan to continue our visits to Simply Books.  We feel it is a more appropriate environment for children over three years old.  We are re-commencing monthly Rhythm Time sessions for the playschool and nest children this month and have also arranged a visit from Southfield Residential care home.   We try to change the day of the various trips and activities so that all children will get the chance to participate.

Holidays & Absences

School half term is approaching, please ensure to let us know of any children’s absences.  Could you tag either Jane or Jo (or both) into any messages you send regarding children’s absences?  Just so we can make a note and not have to message you on the beach!  Have a lovely break if you are on holiday.

Clothing, coats, hats & gloves – Please ensure that the children’s spare clothes bags have weather-appropriate named spare clothing and all children come with an appropriate coat?  When the weather turns colder, please ensure that children are sent with hats and gloves (named please, as little gloves / mittens have a habit of going astray!).  Many thanks! Oh, did we mention that you need to NAME their coats, shoes and hats?!

Activities

We understand children may want to dress up for Halloween, or even Christmas! which is absolutely fine.  However, please ensure that any costumes are manageable for them and appropriate for nursery activities.

Sessions Thank you to all our families who regularly recommend us to others and also who request places for younger siblings.  However, if you do require an extra ad-hoc day or a permanent extra or change of day, please feel free to message Jo/Jane on the Famly app and we will always do our best to accommodate your requests.
Famly Please ensure you have your notifications turned on and that if you have requested administration of medication, then this has been acknowledged well before the time of the first dose.  We will not administer medication without acknowledgement from a Parent.
Our ‘policy of the month’ this month is ‘Sickness’ It is our policy to provide a healthy environment for children and staff.  If your child has had sickness/diarrhoea, they should not return to Fledglings until there have been no symptoms for at least 48 hours.  If they have had a high temperature (and they have not been given Calpol / other paracetamol / ibuprofen medication) for at least 24 hours.  Please ensure children are fully fit before bringing them back into nursery, their day is very busy!  If you feel your child requires medication such as paracetamol/ibuprofen, then they are not fit for nursery and will be refused.  Please ask the Manager about confinement periods for other common illnesses.  We reserve the right to refuse admission to children suffering from obvious trauma, injury or illness.  Parents will be notified if their child falls ill during the day and we will request that the child is collected as soon as possible.  It is therefore very important that we have up to date contact telephone numbers and that at least one of the contacts is ALWAYS available when your child is at nursery.
