| Preschool leavers – It’s getting very real for the children now… some are only just realising that going to school means leaving Fledglings! We find that some children who are going to school have a little emotional wobble this time of year… some start saying they don’t want to come to nursery having been here years already! Others not wanting to eat the meals they have eaten previously, getting upset with their friends… please try not to worry… We continue to enjoy being Fledglings right to the end! Children have been sent an invitation for the preschool leaver’s trip and also the graduation party. Please ensure to RSVP by the required time. Preschool keyworkers are in the process of sending messages to all parents via Famly regarding arranging a meeting should you so wish. | If your child is leaving to go to school, their finish date for this invoice period will be Friday 28thAugust. Some people have already let me know they are finishing earlier. Please inform Jo by no later than the end of June if you intend to finish earlier than 28th August. Your invoices and funding will need recalculating. Many thanks. | |||

A couple of reminders if we may… · Please do not allow children to bring in toys or items from home… including stickers! It seems that some of the children in little flyers are bringing their own stickers in and this is causing some tension if they give them to some children and not others… we have stickers at nursery, please do not allow children to bring them in from home. Items such as costume jewellery are impractical for nursery and can pose a choking hazard for younger children if they get broken. Children also get upset if they get mislaid/lost/broken. · Please remember to name all coats, shoes and hats, clothing, hoodies, cardigans etc. Spare clothes bags must be kept well stocked and kept at nursery. · Now that the weather seems to be improving, please remember to apply suncream to your children before nursery and ensure to let the staff on the door know at drop off time that they have had it on. Suncream will be reapplied in the afternoon if required. Please see below the sun safety policy. |

| Our ‘policy of the month’ this month is ‘Sun Safety’ We will actively encourage all children to wear hats when playing outside in sunny conditions. Nursery can provide hats. Children will also be encouraged to bring one in from home (named) which can be left at nursery in their bag or drawer. When a child starts at Fledglings, we will request parental permission to enable staff to apply sunscreen to their child as required. Fledglings has a stock of factor 30 children’s sunscreen and children are able to bring in their own sunscreen if preferred. We ask that parents apply sunscreen to their child before they attend and we will re-apply in the afternoon if required. Please check the met office website for the UV rating for the day – we do not allow young children to play outside in non-shaded areas when the UV level is above 6, when the UV level is above 3, we would expect children to have sunscreen applied and wear a sunhat. | Famly updates – meal and nappy updates are not usually done in real time… practitioners will sometimes upload this information a while after mealtimes at a more convenient time in the day. Occasionally the Famly app is having a moment!, so meals are logged but don’t appear on the app until much later…this happens with nappy changes and sleep/wake up times occasionally too. The meals have usually been uploaded by 5:30pm. | |||
| Funding and TFC payments – With the vast majority of families receiving working families funding, coupled with tax free childcare payments, it is vitally important that you renew your funding codes every three months and send Jo a message if you are no longer eligible. Please ensure to link your HMRC to your Famly account and pay via Famly with your tax free childcare… this ensures the correct payment gets allocated to the correct family as TFC payments come with very little information as to who they relate to!
