October newsletter
19 Oct 2015
Thanks to everyone who came to our open evening, it was great to have time to chat and answer your questions.
I am sure that those of you who have seen the new floor in room one agree that it has made a huge difference to the indoor environment.
On Friday 23rd October we will be having the floor covering replaced in room two, therefore there will be a small change to our routine, as the contractors are due to start around 1.30pm, over lunchtime we will be moving equipment into room 1 for the younger children to ensure that their routine is not disturbed and those that sleep can do so.
The pre-school children will be either be outdoors or as we have the use of a classroom in Moss Hey directly facing our room, doing our activities in there.
Children who are collected at 4.00pm will be in the pre-school room as usual. All children will be collected from the Pre-school room on Friday evening as numbers are low for tea and we will all be in the same room.
We will be back to normal by Monday as our fantastic staff are coming into nursery for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon to make sure the room is ready for Monday morning.
Please note that sessional care break up on Friday 23rd for half term and return to nursery on 2nd November, day-care continues as normal.
We have recently reviewed and added to our policy document. The new version is on our website and hard copies are available for you to read on the parents notice board.
May I draw your attention to
- Our Medicine Policy – there is a change to this, we now require your child’s prescribed medication to be brought into nursery where we will check it and measure it out for you and store the medication here until you collect your child.
We have recently found Calpol in children’s green bags,
PLEASE ENSURE THAT NO MEDICATION OF ANY KIND IS IN YOUR CHILD’S BAG
2. Attendance Policy – if your child is not going to attend nursery for any reason, please will you telephone us before 12.00noon. Don’t worry if you forget, we will ring you if we have not heard from you during the morning.
We have rearranged room 2 recently to take into account the needs of the younger children, to make resources more accessible we have disposed of some of the children’s drawers, the drawer system works well with children around the age of two and a half to three, but is a little daunting for those who are younger. If your child is under two and a half we will be placing letters etc directly into your child’s book bag on their peg, hopefully this means you will receive them…a few go missing out of the little ones drawers! the rest of the children in room 2 will continue with the drawer system.
There will also be a named blue bag on the pegs of the children that have sleeps, clean bedding will be placed in the bags and removed and laundered by us once your child has finished with them for the week. Currently we store the bedding in the Parents room as we are using this space more for children during the day we now have moved to plan ’B’!
Fledglings works in partnership with local training providers to offer placements for students, from 19th October Christiany will be joining us for a placement until May, she will be here on Fridays.
As Christmas is drawing nearer here are a couple of dates for your diary
- Our Christmas party will be held on Monday 21st December at 9.30amto11.30am all children are invited, further details to follow.
- Christmas Production: the Pre-school children will be joining the reception class at Moss Hey to perform the EYFS Christmas play, it will take place on Tuesday 8th December at 9.30 am and 2.00pm, this is usually ticketed we will send out more information nearer the time.
I am aware that most parents do not enter or park in the school car-park during the day, please can you pass on information to grand-parents that we are not allowed to park in the school car park at any time of the day unless you have permission?
Snack Money: Unfortunately this year in line with other pre-schools and nurseries we have had to introduce a charge for snack of 50p a session for sessional care children. This is due to the fact that we have not had any increase in nursery education grant funding for 3 years. In future children who attend more than 5 sessions will only be charged for 5 snack payments, any one who has paid more than that this term will be credited next term.
We will be raising funds for Children in Need in November, further details to follow.
Family Disco: due to weekend staff training commitments we are not able to hold a family disco this term, we will be holding one after Christmas. Nearer the time we will be asking for a little help off parents, maybe to bake a cake for our cake stall or help on a stall for half an hour or so, as soon as I have a date I will let you know.
If you require any further information or are not sure about something, please feel free to contact us by telephone, email or pop in!
Best wishes,
Julie
