May 2015 newsletter
14 May 2015
Time flies….half term is nearly here therefore the term-time children will break up for two weeks on Friday 22nd May and return on Monday 8th June. Day-care continues as usual, we are closed on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.
If you are going away please will you let us know that your child will not be attending? An email is fine …Thanks.
With the weather improving, if the weather merits the application of sun-cream, please will you apply it before your child comes into nursery, we will re-apply it in the afternoon. Children get very frustrated if they have to wait until everyone is ‘sun-creamed” before going outside, also if you could send in a named sun hat that would be great.
Please check that your child has the appropriate size and current weather related clothing in their green bag including underwear and socks? When encouraging children to become more independent it is really beneficial that their shoes are easy to manage, therefore please steer clear of laces and go for the Velcro or buckle options!
We have arranged for Sharon Wallis our photographer to come and take group photographs of the children on Wednesday 17 June. If your child does not usually attend at this time, please bring them along at 9am if you are in room 2 the younger children’s room and 9:20 if you are in room 1 the older children’s room. Please wait in the corridor, as it only takes 15-20 minutes. The photographs will then be available for purchase at the beginning of July, it is very exciting to show everyone who your friends are at Fledglings!
If you have not yet arranged to see your child’s key person, please can you have a word with them to arrange a mutually convenient time?
Now and again following heavy rainfall the entrance door is prone to sticking, as it must swell slightly, please can you make sure that you close it behind you? The gate at the end of the pathway round to our entrance must also be kept closed.
Just a couple of reminders…..please do not park in the school car-park and inform anyone such as grandparents who may be doing so especially at lunchtime, also don’t give your child anything that contains peanuts in their lunchbox as we have children with nut allergies attending.
The week beginning 18th May will be a fundraiser for the Nepal Earthquake Disaster, we are linking this to a Teddy Bear week, I will send home further details and a collection sheet, please give what you can.
As we are moving towards the end of the academic year, please be aware that all Day-care children are booked in until Friday 28th August. If you are intending to leave before then, please ensure you give us at least one months notice of your child’s leaving date.
On the subject of leaving, Joanne Barton (Jo Jo) will be leaving us in August, over the past two years she has been working towards gaining a place on an Early Years PGCE course and has been offered a full time place in September. Joanne joined us eight years ago as a level 3 nursery practitioner with support from Fledglings she gained her Degree. I am delighted that she is going to continue on her professional development journey to become an Early Years teacher.
Best wishes, Julie Longbottom
