Our rooms – We are having a slight change to the way we operate our rooms within the nursery. As the demand for places is so high, the playschool and nest (having always been one room divided) will be a 0-2 room and children will move into the preschool room around the term after they turn two, rather than when they are three years old, however, there may be times when this doesn’t happen due to other factors, such as time of year and development of individual children. This seems to be more suitable for our next cohort of children. We may change this again to suit the needs of the children and the demand for places. The younger children’s room will be named ‘featherlings’ and the older children’s room will be named ‘little flyers’. There will still be a sectioned off area to ensure the safety of the non-mobile children within featherlings, however, movement between the barriered area and the rest of the room will be more relaxed. This will commence around September 2025.
Stay and Play – Dates have been added to the calendar on Famly. Please ensure to RSVP at least 7 days before the event. The stay and play sessions are so popular with children and parents and we are delighted to be able to continue these. If, like last year, we have lots of people wanting to come, we will split the session into shorter times. Please also note that older and younger siblings will not be able to attend the stay and play sessions due to the amount of people in the building at any time being capped by our insurers. Also, we love that you are then able to devote your whole attention to your little Fledgling! Please remember that no devices enabled to take photographs are permitted in the nursery rooms. Please leave phones/cameras etc. at home. If any devices are brought to nursery, we will ask that they be left in the corridor until it is time to go. Many thanks for your understanding. | Voluntary charges – it has recently been in the news about a change around charges that nurseries can make for funded places. Once our local authority has finalised their guidance, we will inform you of the options available. Nurseries need to be fully compliant by January 2026.
Preschool leavers – It’s getting very real for the children now… some are only just realising that going to school means leaving Fledglings! Children have been sent an invitation for the preschool leaver’s trip and also the graduation party. Please ensure to RSVP by the required time. Preschool keyworkers have sent messages to all parents via Famly regarding arranging meeting should you so wish. Many thanks. |
A couple of reminders if we may… · Please remember to name all coats, shoes and hats, clothing, hoodies, cardigans etc. · Now that the weather seems to be improving, please remember to apply suncream to your children before nursery and ensure to let the staff on the door know at drop off time that they have had it on. Suncream will be reapplied in the afternoon if required. Please see below the sun safety policy. |
Father’s Day 15th June…breakfast treats will be available all week next week for the Dads. Enjoy!
Happy Eid to anyone celebrating this weekend… | Our ‘policy of the month’ this month is ‘Sun Safety’ We will actively encourage all children to wear hats when playing outside in sunny conditions. Nursery can provide hats. Children will also be encouraged to bring one in from home (named) which can be left at nursery in their bag or drawer. When a child starts at Fledglings, we will request parental permission to enable staff to apply sunscreen to their child as required. Fledglings has a stock of factor 30 children’s sunscreen and children are able to bring in their own sunscreen if preferred. We ask that parents apply sunscreen to their child before they attend and we will re-apply in the afternoon if required. Please check the met office website for the UV rating for the day – we do not allow young children to play outside in non-shaded areas when the UV level is above 6, when the UV level is above 3, we would expect children to have sunscreen applied and wear a sunhat.
Funding and TFC payments – With the funding increasing to eligible working families all receiving 30 hours from September 2025, we should be able to revert back to annualised billing, rather than termly billing, which should make budgeting and payments a little easier to manage. Coupled with tax free childcare payments and being able to link your TFC account and pay through Famly, it should take some of the stress away. We sent a post on Famly recently about linking your TFC account to Famly and being able to create instant payments, which around 20% of you have done. It’s really easy to do and you can instantly see the balance of your account once paid. | Any queries, feedback or suggestions, please feel free to message the management team. |
