Welcome to the Fledglings newsletter, we hope you find this edition full of exciting news from within the nursery!

Red Nose Day –Friday 17^th March 2023. Please feel free to dress in red for this worthy cause. Donations can be made online via the following link.

Easter Celebrations

We cannot believe that we are planning for Easter! It is so wonderful to see all the beautiful flowers and blossom tress beginning to bloom in our Fledglings gardens.

Please find below the itinerary for our Fledglings Easter Celebrations:

Monday 3rd April: Easter Arts and Crafts session

Tuesday 4th April: Easter delicacy baking session including the famous Easter chocolate nests.

Wednesday 5th April: Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Garden followed by the Easter story with an enjoyable cup of special Fledglings hot cocoa with whipped cream.

Thursday 6th April: Easter bonnet parade and party. All children welcome to dress up in fancy dress to celebrate this special day.

Friday 7th – 10th April: Nursery closed and home Easter Celebrations commence!

Our homework project competition will be to create an Easter Bonnet ready for our Easter Celebrations. Please ensure all entries are in nursery by Wednesday 27^th March – Good luck! (Prizes will be awarded per classroom)

Special Fledglings Bear

Please remember to request to take our wonderful bear with you on holiday…he does love to travel and doesn’t require a ticket! The Fledglings bear will be available for all the children to take home on special family outings and holidays. We would be very keen to return the bear with some photographs to support your special trips for everyone at Fledglings to see, we will be displaying the work in the foyer.

Safer Sleep

Recently, the Fledglings management team attended the Safeguarding conference which highlighted new developments, case studies and a particular focus on safer sleep. The Fledglings ‘Safe Sleep’ policy ensures that we follow the most up to date recommendations. The information has been shared on Famly, however, as always please do ask any member of the team if you would like more information on our sleep procedures at nursery.

Stockport Local Authority recommend the information published on the Lullaby Trust website to discover recommended routines for sleeping and safer sleeping practices.

Preschool Focus Teaching with Mrs Bhav:

The children have been absolutely fantastic during focus teaching time and I am super impressed with their passion for learning (As a matter of fact, sometimes they are teaching me something new!)

The listening and attention skills are brilliant and improving every day and we can see that the children are becoming more and more independent and ‘school ready’.

The children have really enjoyed learning about measuring and weight and have been able to confidently apply knowledge during everyday scenarios. They have also enjoyed comparing sizes using a range of resources.

We have continued to practice letter formation, rhymes and letter recognition. The children have even been ‘sounding out’ short words such as ‘pat, mat and sat’.

Physical Education with our fabulous Sports Coach- Leanne:

The Fledglings children love PE! The enjoy our wonderful surroundings, including the large field, sports hall and the nature garden. We are currently working very hard to revamp the pond area and we hope this will be ready in time for summer!

The children have particularly enjoyed exploring balls…throwing, catching, rolling and bouncing!

Stay and Play:

The ‘Stay and Play’ sessions have been such a brilliant success. The dates for upcoming sessions are all in the Famly Diary. Please confirm your attendance via the portal…we look forward to seeing you then!

Finally, we have had such a fabulous start to 2023! We have celebrated many festivals, learnt so many new things, taken part in community trips and most important of all….we have had SO MUCH FUN WHIST LEARNING!! Hope you enjoy looking through our gallery 
